☄ First Impressions

♚ VISUAL: Here! At a height of nearly 6'3" (190cm), Lovecraft cuts a pretty imposing figure with the way he tends to loom over others. The way he stares probably doesn't help matters. He has a pretty dark and gloomy appearance overall- dark hair, dark clothes, dour expression... He seems like the sort of guy you'd be worried to approach the wrong way. Though honestly, most of the time he's a lot more harmless than he looks. For the finer details, with the perpetual dark circles under his eyes and general sunken and gaunt features on his face and cheeks, Lovecraft looks like he could use a nap pretty much all the time. And he'd agree if you actually said that to him. His dark hair is incredibly long and wavy, reaching well past his waist and closer to the back of his knees. It's surprisingly well-kept considering the rest of Lovecraft's haggard appearance, usually swept back so it's out of his face.

Lovecraft doesn't show a whole lot of expression aside from looking perpetually blank and exhausted, but he does occasionally show a bit of curiosity and surprise when faced with something new or startling. Getting him to smile is a bit of a challenge though, and it's likely that it would come out super awkward if he were to be goaded into doing it.

♚ FASHION: Lovecraft's fashion sense is surprisingly not all that bad?! He wears a basic suit and long buckled trench coat on top- the main things standing out being one: the ends of his clothing are worn down and almost shredded and two: his tie contains a subtle pattern to it that almost looks like eyes if you squint close enough. In terms of general style it's pretty normal, but it does seem like he at least need to replace them with something newer since it's almost as if he's worn this particular outfit for quite some time.

♚ DEMEANOR: The best way to describe Lovecraft's overall demeanor would be...hilariously indifferent and very odd. In other words, Lovecraft is definitely That Guy who reacts to pain and death like it's just another Tuesday. He does everything at a rather sluggish pace: walking, talking, reacting...it's as though it's all a chore to him (and it is). As mentioned above, Lovecraft's default expression is entirely blank, like he's spacing out and thinking of other things like sleep rather than what's going on around him. He'll even do this when talking to people. Even though he appears like this, he's more attune to things than he's letting on and is known to take notice of subtle details before anyone else. It's just reacting to those details in a timely manner that proves to be a challenge. But if something does catch his attention, he's not shy about showing some curiosity.

While he's usually subdued and a mopey, he gets visibly distressed when in a large group. He's used to a solitary lifestyle, so having the attention of others is weird and he doesn't like it. When he's feeling nervous like this, he gets more vocal about it and is prone to fidgeting and biting at his nails.

Lastly, while it's incredibly difficult to truly scare or provoke Lovecraft, when he does feel threatened for whatever reason he will react accordingly. And he's um. A little scary about it. Maybe it's for the best that you don't get this sort of reaction from him.

♚ AURAL: Lovecraft's voice is deep but soft. He tends to speak slowly and with some hesitation, like he's often trying to parse out what he wants to say mid-sentence. It makes it sound like he's kind of shy, but in reality it's probably more along the lines of him thinking about how much effort it takes to socialize. This is why he would let Steinbeck do all the talking! He's voiced by Shunsuke Takeuchi.

♚ OLFACTORY: Lovecraft smells kind of salty, like the sea water type of salty. Maybe he spent a lot of time near the ocean?

☄ OOC

♚ BACKTAGGING: I am always up for this!
♚ FOURTHWALLING: Characters are more than welcome to recognize his name, since it is obviously quite a famous one for a lot of Earth-based canons. They might get a reaction that they weren't expecting, though!
♚ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Go for it! I can guarantee that he won't know what to do with it, though.
♚ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Sure! Lovecraft is pretty difficult to provoke into attacking, but characters are welcome to attack him should the desire ever come up. He'll definitely fight back if something is initiated.
♚ RELATIONSHIPS: There are a whole host of reasons why this would be very difficult to pull off but I am definitely not going to close the door on the possibility if it naturally arises.
